# Creating a recruiting checklist

Build a reusable recruiting checklist for your athletes in three steps — pick a type, set the schedule, and attach any files they'll need.

Checklists are reusable templates you build once and enroll athletes into: a recruiting timeline, an onboarding process, anything your staff walks athletes through step by step. This article covers building the template itself; see [Steps & instructions](/docs/checklists/steps-and-instructions) for adding the actual tasks.

> **Who can create and manage checklists**
>
> Only **Super Admins** and **Admins**. Coaches and team managers don't see the Checklists area at all, and athletes only ever see the checklists they've been enrolled in. On a multi-space account there's one more wrinkle: a Super Admin manages every checklist on the account, while an Admin sees only the ones shared with all spaces or assigned to theirs. See [Staff roles & permissions](/docs/organizations/staff-roles-and-permissions).

## Start from Manage

Go to **Checklists → Manage** and click **Create Checklist**. That opens a 3-step wizard (you'll see a "Step X of 3" badge as you go).

## 1. Name, type, and description

Give the checklist a **Name** and, optionally, a **Description**. Athletes see this when they're enrolled, so use it to explain what the checklist is for.

Then choose a **Type**. This is the one choice you can't undo later:

- **Drip** — enroll athletes dynamically and trigger each step relative to when they're enrolled or complete the previous step.
- **Basic** — a bare-bones checklist with no due-date cadence.

Pick carefully: once a checklist is created, its type is locked and can't be changed. See [Due dates](/docs/checklists/due-dates) for how each type actually handles scheduling.

## 2. Set the schedule and visibility

Next you'll set:

- **Go live date**: defaults to today. The checklist won't process any athletes until this date.
- **Active**: must be on for the checklist to enroll or process anyone, now or in the future.
- **Auto-Assign**: automatically enrolls new athletes who register into a valid space. See [Auto-assign](/docs/checklists/auto-assign) for exactly when this fires.
- **Hide Next Steps** — when on, athletes only see instructions for their current step, not the ones ahead.

If your account has more than one space, you'll also see **All Spaces**. Leave it on to make the checklist available everywhere, or turn it off to pick specific spaces from a list. Accounts with a single space skip this, since the checklist is automatically available there.

## 3. Add attachments (optional)

The last step lets you upload files athletes will need: waivers, worksheets, guides. You can add up to 5 files, 7 MB each. These are shared across every athlete enrolled in the checklist, not per-athlete.

Click **Create Checklist** to finish. You'll land on the checklist's **Manage Steps** page, ready to [add steps](/docs/checklists/steps-and-instructions).

## Archiving a checklist

From the Manage list, use the row menu to **Archive** a checklist you no longer need — it stops processing athletes but keeps its history. Archived checklists can be **Restore**d later from the same menu. Filter the list by **All Checklists**, **Active**, **Inactive**, or **Archived** to find what you're looking for.

## What's next

- Add tasks with [Steps & instructions](/docs/checklists/steps-and-instructions).
- Understand how Drip vs. Basic timing actually works in [Due dates](/docs/checklists/due-dates).
- Turn on automatic enrollment in [Auto-assign](/docs/checklists/auto-assign).
