# Your data if you delete your account

What actually happens when you delete your ProductiveRecruit account: what gets permanently erased, what doesn't happen automatically, and what to do first.

Deleting your account is permanent and immediate. There's no recovery window, no "trash" you can restore from later. Only standalone athlete accounts can self-delete; if your account is managed by an organization, ask your organization's admin to remove you instead.

## What actually gets deleted

Confirming deletion permanently erases your account and everything tied to it: your profile, target list, email history and templates, recruiting checklists, and usage stats. There's no soft-delete or grace period — once confirmed, it's a real, irreversible removal, not an archived state you can reopen later.

## Before you delete

Two things the product does **not** do automatically:

- **Cancel your subscription.** Deleting your account doesn't cancel billing on its own. Cancel through [Billing](/docs/billing/billing) first, or you may keep getting charged.
- **Export your data.** There's no built-in "download your data" step before deletion. If you want to keep a copy of your profile, target list, or email history, save what you need before you confirm.

## How to delete your account

1. Go to your account settings.
2. Find the **Delete Account** section and click **Delete Account**.
3. Read the confirmation. It states plainly that "this action is irreversible and will delete your account and all associated data." Then click **Confirm Account Deletion**.

That's it. There's no confirmation email or delay afterward; the deletion happens the moment you confirm.

## What's next

- Cancel or pause billing first in [Billing](/docs/billing/billing).
- Review your subscription details in [account settings](/docs/billing/account-settings) before you commit to deleting.
- Just want to stop being billed, not erase your data? See [Billing](/docs/billing/billing) instead.
