# Fixing duplicate accounts

How athletes end up with two profiles, why it hurts your outreach, and how to get down to one account without losing work.

Duplicate accounts are one of the most common things support fixes. They usually happen one of three ways:

- You signed up on your own, and later your club registered you again with a new account.
- A parent created a profile under their own name and email, and the athlete later made another.
- You signed up twice under two different email addresses.

## Why it matters

Coaches may receive a link to the empty profile instead of the real one. Your club's roster may show the outdated account. And activity gets split between the two, so neither tells the full story.

## How to fix it

Decide which account is the keeper, usually the one with the most complete profile and email history. Then email support@productiverecruit.com from the email address on either account, tell us which one should survive, and we'll clean up the rest. If the keeper needs to be connected to your club, we'll handle that in the same pass.

## How to avoid it

If you already have an account and your club sends a registration link, choose **join with existing account** and enter the club's group code. That moves your existing account into the club's space instead of creating a new one. See [athlete registration & group codes](/docs/organizations/athlete-registration).
