# Marking your commitment

Learn how to record your college commitment on ProductiveRecruit so it shows on your public profile, and how to undo it if plans change.

Once you've committed to a program, your profile should say so. Coaches, teammates, and family checking your page shouldn't have to guess. The **Commitment** tab records where you're headed and updates your public profile automatically.

## Add your commitment

Open the **Commitment** tab in your profile editor (under the **Recruiting** group). If you haven't committed yet, you'll see **"College commitment"** with a prompt: "Have you committed to play in college? Let us know here and we will display it on your profile." Search for and select the program, then click **Save Commitment**.

Saving does a few things at once:

- Sets your recruiting status to **Committed** — the **Status** field on your Overview tab updates automatically, so you don't need to change it yourself.
- Adds a blue **Committed** chip at the top of your public profile, plus a **Committed to** block with the college's logo and name right in the hero, so it's the first thing anyone sees.
- Logs the commitment to your activity history.

You'll see a confirmation toast: "Your commitment has been added. Congrats!"

## Share the news

Once your commitment is saved, the tab switches to a congratulations view ("Congrats on your commitment to **{College Name}**!" with the school's logo) and gives you social-share buttons pre-filled with "I am excited to announce I have committed to {College Name}!" so you can post the announcement without writing it yourself.

## Commitment vs. offers

The Commitment tab is separate from your [Offers](/docs/profile/offers) tab. When you're adding an offer, you can only mark it **Offered** or **Interest** — "Committed" isn't a selectable offer status. If you've committed, use the Commitment tab instead; that's what actually updates your status and badge. Your offers list stays a record of who recruited you, while Commitment reflects where you landed.

## Changing your mind

Plans change. If you need to undo a commitment, go back to the Commitment tab and click **Remove Commitment**. This clears the college from your profile, resets your status back to **Searching**, and removes the "Committed" badge. You'll get a confirmation toast: "Your commitment has been removed." You can then commit to a different program at any time.

## What's next

- Make sure your [offers](/docs/profile/offers) reflect every program that recruited you before you committed.
- Check your [privacy and visibility settings](/docs/profile/privacy-and-visibility) so coaches and family see the right version of your profile.
- Review your [public profile](/docs/profile/public-profile) to see exactly how your commitment badge and share link appear to visitors.
