# Privacy & visibility settings

Learn how to control which profile details show publicly, and why the link you share with coaches always shows your complete profile.

Your public profile doesn't have to show everything. The **Privacy** tab lets you choose which details (stats, academics, contact info) appear on the version of your profile that search engines index and strangers see. It's entirely optional: leave every toggle on and your whole profile is public, or lock down anything you'd rather keep private.

## Four groups, saved independently

Open **Privacy** in your profile editor and you'll find four cards: **Athletics**, **Academic Information**, **Contact Information**, and **Other Information**. Each has its own **Save** button, so updating one group never requires touching the rest.

Here's what's visible out of the box:

| Group | Field | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Athletics | Height | Visible |
| Athletics | Weight | Hidden |
| Academic Information | GPA | Hidden |
| Academic Information | Test scores | Hidden |
| Academic Information | Eligibility numbers | Hidden |
| Academic Information | Class rank | Hidden |
| Academic Information | Intended major | Visible |
| Academic Information | Academic honors | Visible |
| Academic Information | Extracurricular activities | Visible |
| Contact Information | Phone, email, social profiles, parent/coach/recruiting-coordinator info, additional contacts | Hidden |
| Other Information | Photos | Hidden |
| Other Information | Links | Visible |
| Other Information | Offers | Visible |

Your grad year always shows, no matter how you set these toggles.

If every toggle in Contact Information is off, the whole contact section disappears from your public profile instead of showing up empty.

## The link you share with coaches always shows everything

This is the part worth understanding before you start hiding things: the shareable link on your **Share** tab (along with social-share buttons, your printable resume's QR code, and profile preview mode) includes a special parameter that shows a college coach your complete profile, including anything you've set to private. Privacy toggles only affect the plain public URL: the one search engines index, and the one someone would see if they came across your profile without that link.

In other words, turning a field off doesn't hide it from coaches you're reaching out to, or from one who clicks a tracked link in an email you sent — it hides it from the open web. Use these settings to manage your public footprint, not to keep specific information from recruiters you're actually talking to.

## What's next

- See exactly how each toggle maps to your public page in [Public profile](/docs/profile/public-profile).
- Fill in the fields these settings control, starting with [Building your profile](/docs/profile/building-your-profile).
- Add the details gated by the Academic Information group in [Academic profile](/docs/profile/academic-profile).
