# Notifications

See every way ProductiveRecruit alerts you to coach activity, task deadlines, and checklist steps, plus the one notification setting you control.

ProductiveRecruit alerts you the moment a coach engages (an open, a click, a profile view, a reply) plus your own tasks and checklist steps as they come due. Most of these are always on; only one is something you switch yourself.

## Where notifications live

Click the bell icon to open the notifications flyout. It shows your unread count and the oldest 10 unread notifications, each with an icon, the alert text, a relative timestamp, and a **Clear** button.

**Clearing a notification deletes it — permanently.** There's no history or archive to revisit later, and **Mark all as read** deletes every unread notification at once. Read what you need before you clear it.

## What triggers a notification

| You're enrolled in a checklist | "You were enrolled in a checklist: {name}" | In-app + email |
| A checklist step is due | "You have a step due for the {checklist} checklist" | In-app + email |
| Staff adds a note to your program | "{Name} has added a note to {college}" | In-app + email |

Bot and scanner opens/clicks never trigger a notification. Only real engagement does. See [Opens, clicks & views explained](/docs/tracking/opens-clicks-views) for how that's determined.

## The one setting you control

Every notification above fires automatically with no toggle — except profile views. In [Account Settings](/docs/billing/account-settings), the **"Profile view notifications"** switch controls whether a coach viewing your profile emails you (it's off by default). Everything else in this list is always on.

Even with the switch off, a profile view still shows up in-app and in your activity feed — the setting only controls the extra email alert.

## Task and checklist reminders

Task due-dates and checklist steps don't get a configurable reminder schedule (no "remind me 3 days before"). Instead, a daily digest email rounds up everything due today or overdue, and your [dashboard](/docs/tracking/dashboard) surfaces anything due within the next 3 days so you don't have to wait for the email to notice.
