Use social media as a recruiting tool to grow your opportunities and get your name out there. Don’t use it in a negative way that can lose you opportunities. College coaches hang out on social media sites like Twitter, and some actually use it heavily for recruiting. If you take advantage of these platforms, you can achieve tremendous results.

Our top tips on how to leverage social media for your recruiting process 👇

1. Add your position, grad year, gpa, test scores, highlight video, and recruiting profile to your bio.

You want any coaches coming to your profile to know this key information right away. Grab there attention with your awesome achievements.

2. Share clips of your best new plays.

Video is a tool coaches use to evaluate talent during the recruiting process. Keep your followers interested by sharing your best clips from YouTube or hudl. Getting retweets can help gather more impressions, meaning more coaches eyes on you.

3. Turn on notifications for coaches you’re following and respond to their tweets with your interest and video.

If you’re actively trying to get recruited by certain programs, becoming engaged with their staff on social media can help gain their attention. You can enable Tweet notifications by clicking the bell icon on a coach's profile.

4. Stay away from sharing anything inappropriate or unprofessional.

Getting recruited is a job, and coaches have a program’s reputation to uphold. Try creating a recruiting specific Twitter / Instagram account, so you can keep it clean and focused on your sport.

I've personally seen teammates ripped apart for some of the tweets they posted on day one of pre-season. You don't wanna be that guy, or even worse be the player who loses a scholarship over it...
