Once you assign a checklist to an athlete, they get their own simplified view of it: no settings, no editing, just the steps they need to work through. Knowing what that view looks like helps you write better instructions and troubleshoot when an athlete says they're "stuck."
Where athletes find their checklists
Athletes see a "Your Recruiting Checklists" page listing every checklist assigned to them, with a status filter for All / Active / Completed. Each row shows the checklist name, current step, and whether it's completed, with actions to open the step list or view the checklist's description in a read-only flyout.
Working through steps
Opening a checklist takes the athlete to its step list, with tabs for Steps and Attachments. Each step shows its due date (or "No due date set"), completion status, and, for whichever step is currently theirs to complete, a Mark as Complete button. Clicking a step opens its full instructions, which can include a link out to a doc, form, or video, but not an embedded player.
Athletes can only complete steps in order. Even when they can see instructions for a later step, the Mark as Complete action only ever shows up on their current step — there's no way to jump ahead. See Steps & instructions for how you write and order those steps.
Locked steps
If you've turned on Hide Next Steps for a checklist, athletes only see instructions for their current step, and everything after it is grayed out with a tooltip prompting them to finish what's in front of them first. Clicking a locked step tells them exactly which step to complete before it unlocks. If that setting is off, athletes can read every step's instructions up front, but the "complete in order" rule still applies. Due dates and cadence behave differently depending on whether the checklist is a Drip or Basic type — see Due dates for how each is calculated.
Attachments
If you've added shared files to a checklist, athletes see them under their own Attachments tab — view and download only, no ability to upload or delete. These files are shared across every athlete on that checklist, not assigned per-step.
What athletes are notified about
When you manually assign a checklist to an athlete, they get an email letting them know a new checklist is waiting. Athletes enrolled automatically at registration don't get that email, since it would land in the middle of their onboarding. Either way, the checklist shows up on their "Your Recruiting Checklists" page the moment they're enrolled.
